Question boost problem

hi iv just got a 96 impreza wrx sti wagon,and im looking for some info,when i accelerate the car pulls then it sort of dies,or burbles,then seems to accelerate past this,but does it again once i change gear,cheers:

Do you get a chattering noise as it hsppens?

Could be either a leaking dump valve or compressor surge.

u say u just got it..... check the ecu for faults.... your engine light should diplay when it judders then goes of when you get past the hang back bit...

If this is the case, mine did this on my my94, it was the knock sensor...

Check the oil level. If overfull it can contaminate the boost solenoid and pipework and cause problems. Clean the solenoid and pipework using brake cleaner.

Alternatively it could be coil packs, don't know if they can be tested other than trying new ones.

Your best bet is probably to get a diagnostic check done to see if anything is at fault and have an experienced person advise you. Things are too expensive to start trial and error elimination by replacement etc.
