Talk to Mark @ lateral performance but the multi layered steel gaskets are probably your best bet. That's what i have on my sti5 block with sti3 heads.

What size did you get ? They are both a bit thin for a '94. Make sure you remap it before going on boost.

I went for the thicker ones (high boost/Nitro) as i've had the block and heads skimmed

Fujack,

The thicker gaskets shown on the link are .051"/ 1.275mm.

The standard gaskets are 1.4mm thick, so you've actually increased, not reduced your compression ration.

Make sure you take this into account when re-mapping.

Thanks Banny.

Banny,

Yes, and they went today.

Fujack,

The fact that you're running higher compression. You may well need to reduce the ignition timing to compensate.

Hmmm - Comments Mark ?

Wouldn't skimming block reduce swept volume, skimming heads reduce static volume, so overall compresion is anywhere!! No Idea if higher or lower comp ratio, Hope some one calculated all this and advised right head gasket thickness to restore appropriate safe and efficient compresion ratio.

Also, what does all this skimming do to cam timing, of overhead cam motors like the scooby, does this now need vernier timing gears or will it still be within tolerence of the std belts?

Just being nosey really here!

It was only a very light skim the heads and block looked ok before but wanted fresh metal against the gasket. ah see how it goes
