Default Knocking on start and stop

I'm having an annoying problem that sometimes when i start or stop the engine i get a horrible "knocking" from the drivers side front of the car. I'm almost certain its not anything sinister inside the engine as it sounds sweet as a all the way through the revs.
I suspected an engine mount, but it seems ok. I think i've heard it a couple times wen going over some bumps but might be something different. Its been doing it for a couple months now n i cant see anything
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers

I would advise you to check that the downpipe is not hitting the cross memeber, this is just before the point where it joins the middle section.
