Default Removing Lambda sensor

Can you remove the Lambda sensor completely and fill the hole in the exhaust with a blanking plug?? If so will you get an engine warning light or will the car function normally

Just wondering why you would want to do this.

I wouldnt expect the car to function 'normally'

I wait to be corrected, but without a lambda it will run closed loop all the time from the map. The normal open loop that the ECU adjusts fuelling by is dependant on the lambda I believe.

I think this all leads to bad economy and emmisions?

I just did it. It'll run without a lambda sensor but it's just as easy to simply unplug it until you get a new one. Without feedback from the lambda though it will run closed loop. Not such a problem if you don't have a cat, more of a problem if you do. When I had it unplugged/removed it didn't run very well at all.
