Question Type RA running problem....

Hi all, just purchased a 94 type ra just over a week ago, since whenever I've been driving it - I run it on Tesco 99ron & OB - it keeps hesitating whenever I accelerate, then leaps forward, usually around town, on fast roads it's fine and it doesn't seem to make a difference whether the tank is full or low and it's a lot worse in the morning. I have now added an induction kit and downpipe, but it hasn't made any difference - - any ideas??

Question

Coil packs - it has been suggested that perhaps it's the petrol pump...

Check the plugs and coil packs, do you know when the plugs were last changed? from memory I think they need to be gapped at .7 I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you running a DV and what type?

I'll send you a PM

Cool

I've been told it's unlikely to be the plugs or coil packs as the problem would be all the time, not just intermittently. And I was told by the previous owner that it hasn't been serviced since he brought it into the country last April.
I've got a Bailey VTA....sounds totally different on this car lol

Couldn't get Tesco 99 ron last night, so had to put Optimax in with no Octane boost - this morning it's running fine, no hopping or skipping or hesitating!! So I might try another tankful when this one runs out and see what happens, if it runs fine then I'm staying with Optimax lol
