Question TMIC volume/capacity

Hi Team

Firstly apoligies as I'm not sure what the correct term is to use but
does anyone have the figures for the difference in sizes on the range of top mounts regarding the inner volume/capacity.

1. Uk Classic
2. Classic Sti
3. New Age Wrx
4. New Age Sti

I maybe looking at dropping another top mount on my Uk Classic and I'm considering the New Age Wrx route, it looks to be an economical route to take and easy fitment hopefully.

Thought's gentlemen please.

Cheers
Simon

If you do decide to go for a newage WRX, i've got one in my garage, sure we can come to a deal if you want it.

Dont know the sizes but am pretty sure the newage wrx is bigger and more free flowing than both the Classic STI and UK. Newage STI is obviuosly even better.

I was going to fit the newage WRX on mine but deciced to go with FMIC as you know.

from calculations i did quite a while ago i believe the newage sti one is something like 38% larger volume than the WRX one.

That's a massive difference 38% that's a lot of extra cooling for sure.

I've just realised I have some pictures on my bucket account...

This is on mine MY00

Then a New Age

Not an Sti but similar..

I see what you mean Neil looking at the strut brace for comparison for size I can see where the 38% comes to play.

yeah although in terms of volume the APS one is actually 50% larger or even more, however there are mixed reports of it its actually more or less effective than the sti OEM one.....

I think for the difference it would make from a 00 to a newage one its not worth it, but if the newage one was cheap enough and you could get the mounting brakcets then go for it p

Cheers Neil

Anyone know if the P1 top mount is the same as the Sti5 ?

I'm considering if the Sti5 may be the most sensible direction to look into for more efficiant cooling and ease of fitment etc.

The P1 intercooler is the same as a sti5 as they use the same engine.

Think carefully.
Consider fitting a FMIC instead.

I've got a VF28 on the way and will be looking at a TEK3 as well and I just want to make the car a safe and reliable daily drive.
I'm running a MY00 uk car and I'm well aware of induction kit / MAF issues and that's why I have stayed with the standard air box and green filter.

Not in any rush here and I will be doing plenty of homework to make sure I only do this upgrade once and correctly the first time.
I'm not going to track the car in any way and if we are all honest about it mostly it's short bursts of power with good torque that I'm after.

I am no expert when it comes to under bonnet so I'm on that learning curve yet again I've not got any fear on cutting the car for a front mount but I wanted to try and make this as cost effective as possible that's why I'm exploring the cooling differences of all the mounts available... one point I agree on is if I had the cash for an Sti8 top I would certainly be looking FMIC as a better viable option.

911.. Graham what's your feelings on leaving the standard top mount on as it stands now for spirited bursts and standard driving do you think this would cause any issues in your mind ?

Good idea Danny visually I think they are very much the same I just wondered with advancements if they were of different construction making the later more efficiant.

Cheers

Simon:
For short blasts the stock TMIC will be fine, but you WILL want more, so you need to think carefully!
