Does the starter still turn over the engine?

Any other characteristics? i.e. running rich, missfiring etc.

it is very easy to change.. look at the front of the engine and it is below the alternator between the drive belt.. has a 10mm bolt holding it and a couple of wires on the plug.. there is a similar looking one under the oil filler which is the cam position sensor. They are magnetic and with age become weaker.. you can remove and clean with WD40 or similar and it should work again for a while..
worth cleaning then both... just don't muddle them as they are different.

Not sure how much they are new.
