Default Plug gap

Doing the plugs tomorrow, anyone know for definate the correct gap for a 2001 WRX?
My cd manual says 1 - 1.1 mm but this seems a bit large.

Set them to 1mm and fitted them today. Bit of a fiddly job but car seems to be running nice and smooth now.
Anyway just replying to myself in case anyone else needs the info.

Not much of a forum for getting answers this Scoobynet is it?

Harty2000, If I have understood what you have put in your reply it seems that you think the gap refers to the fitment of the spark plug. That is not so the gap that is being discussed is between the central electrode and the earth electrode where the spark is formed to ignite the fuel air mix.

If its an early car you'll need to remove the coil pack from the spark pulgs, they seat on top of them. On the later cars the coil pack is positioned on the inlet manifold.

I think if you're making big HP(>350bhp) then set the gap to 6mm and for normal use then 7mm

Its the gap between the terminal at the thread end and the hook at the same end...
