Default sti3 need help

mate has just bought a sti 3 and on his way home the check engine light has come on what do i do .do i re set the ecu and see what error codes come up?
he starts the car up and when the car is stationary revs it and it starts to splutter at 4 k and want go past that ,the garage said it mite where they put a new clock on the speedo, i dont think its that as a check engine light has come on

any help would be good

If you reset the ecu it will wipe the stored codes. You will then have to drive the car for a short period for the ECU to store the new codes it detects.

Do an error check now and see what it comes up with. However, I think it stores old codes!!! Just try it and see what codes are stored then post again.

do i just connect yhe green ones for that,he said that he had to put some 95 ron fuel in coz he could not get any better,but as soon as he could he filled it right up with 97/98 ron,and that it only started after the 95 stuff went in

Not the green plugs, the 2 black ones! The CEL wil flash. You have to count the amount of flashes it gives you. A long flash equals 10 and a short flash equals 1. It's quite tricky to read until you get the hang of it. Use a pen and paper just in case ther eis a few!!!!

Has it been remapped for UK fuel? I've got a V.2 and always use Optimax and Millers octane booster every time.

ha ha i new it was one of them but just guest the green,no its just been imported,im going to have a look at it this morning and see what the codes say ,then ill post them,

Note it wont rev past 4000rpm with the cel light on anyway
