Default Octane Booster ???

Newbie here lads and just a quick
question.

Is it possible to use to much Octane Booster ??

Im driving an MY99 STI TypeR but unfortunitly
in the Rep of Ireland we can only get 95 RON if even !!

Im using 1 full bottle of NF Octane Booster to a full tank
but it has been sugested by the supplier that's to much ???

My car is not running well at the mo so a little confused.
Anyone got any info on same ??

Niall.

I can't see that being too much. 1 bottle is what i always use with Optimax.... what rating of Ron will it add?

Good question ??
The bottle says up to 6 points
but i don't know !!
Although Andy F did recomend "NF" as been the best.
I would of though 95 RON plus 1 bottle of NF would
of got me 97Ron maybe 98 which isn't quite the 100 Ron
used in Japan but would of kept me going till i get a re-mapp.

Can't see why the supplier would of thought i was using too much ???

Check your exhaust tail pipe - if its looks orange on the inside you are possibly using too much octane booster.

If its a Jap car, my understanding is that they are designed to run on 100 RON, not like the UK ones which are designed to run on 98 RON. 1 bottle of that NF stuff is 6 points, so your running the car now on 101 RON.

Yes, but are you sure that's really means upping the octane NUMBER by six, i.e. from 98 to 102 as suggested.
I understood there were ten 'octane points' to 1 OCTANE NUMBER, or 1 RON.
So, you might only be raising the RON by just over half - +0.6 RON!

After about 3mls per litre the benefit of NF added to Optimax seems to tail off.
If you read carefully the blurb from Nitrous Formula, Millars etc. you will see that some octane booster claims are for points ie. tenths of a Ron and others are for full Ron increases. Best way to see this is to compare Millars Octane Plus with Millars CVL.
The NF at around 2mls per litre raises 98 Ron to 100 Ron.

2mls per litre or more on a regular basis tends to foul the plugs so it could be that you need to take them out and give them a clean. Also reduces the life of the oxygen sensor.

Tesco do super unleaded which is 99 ron and my sti seems fine on it without any boosters.

Sorry, didn't read the bit about only 95 ron available.

At the cost of one bottle per tank it may be a better bet to get the car remapped for the fuel you can get.

I accept it can reduce the life of a lambda sensor but in practice I have not found that NF fouls plugs. eg NF at 2 or 3 mls/l and 15K mls on NGK PFR7B

Default No more NF

sorry should say i dont use mf no more.
After my remap Powerstation said did not need it. Only for track days!

Also said that it should do no harm, so as a quick BHP booster a bottle could be worthwhiile
