might be a bit stupid, but can you explain your problem clearer....................

if you've installed a Walbro 255/hr pump on a std car then most likely yes it will overfuel, can happily overcome the std pressure reg on older cars.....

the car is over fueling, stinking of fuel ect. im thinking the pump is the cause. the car is only running 280bhp so maybe the upreted pump is to blame?

the uprated pump can over power the standard fuel pressure reg so you end up running a higher fuel pressure when fuel is not being consumed so much like on cruise or on idle. Therefore more fuel is then injected and it runs rich.

Easiest solution is to fit an uprated adjustable fuel pressure reg
