Question Error 33 Vechicle speed sensor

Apologise for this but as the search is not working I cannot view other threads easily.

I know this has come up before but the check engine light comes on, done diagnostics and it says error 33 (Vehicle speed sensor). Clears itself and then about 50-70miles later it comes on again. Idles is slightly lower than normal. Drives fine, speedo works well and the trip meter works fine also so cable seems fine to me.

It is an import WRX STi Version II Type RA 555 (95)

Any ideas would be appreciated?

JGM thank you for that.

Is it difficult to get to as you mentioned in a previous thread that it is located in/on the gear box.

As are most things when you need to get to them.. lol

iirc it is in one of the positions where you cannot fully decide if it would be easier to do it from the engine bay or from under the car.

It is just behind the lambda sensor in the exhaust.. you might need to remove the intercooler to see.. although I don't think you have to remove it to do the job just might help.

I'll take a look.....

One question though, if the speedo is working and the trip is working, does that not mean that the cable is fine? or could it be a case of the cable might seem fine but the reading to the ecu is inaccurate?

This is really baffling my head. As there is nothing worse than something that seems to be working fine but still throwing up errors
