garrett T61 on ej22
Hi, I ve gotta question:
I bought an garrett T61, my purpose is fit on my MY99 WRX w EJ22 inside
any people of this forum do this before??
I use my standar heads and standard inyectors, I ve got an FMIC, Link engine management, 3" exhaust, walbro 255
any ideas?? how much this turbo flows W/ 23 psi of boost,I ear this turbo on 2.0 engine flows about 4800 rpm...the standard heads resist 7500 rpm w/ this setup??
Regards
Daniel

Daniel,
I've never used one, but the T61 is a 650bhp turbo, so if you try, and 23psi is far too much to run on your stock injectors.
How much power are you aiming for ? and I hope it's an EJ22T turbo block, if you want to run that boost, on that size turbo.
Mark.

Daniel,
Be very careful, the standard internals aren't very strong, and with the T61, I would suggest keeping the boost very low, less than 1bar.

99 is side feed injectors, and exactly the same as the 99 STi.
The standard 99 injectors are good for 350bhp, and with standard EJ22T internals, I wouldn't want to push it much harder, otherwise you'll most likely do a rod, or piston.
If you fit steel rods, and forged pistons, then you could easily run 23psi, and you would need bigger injectors.

thanks for ur reply, this turbo its really big for this engine, so Im thinking on TD06 20g for ej22 stock internals its more small, but I think its works good on this engine ( stock engine) I didnt want to forged, ´cause I had to make new settings W the link ecu, But Im think I have good results W td06
Thanks again

A TD05-18G, or TD05-20G will be more than enough for the "stock" 2.2lt engine, and much cheaper than the TD06-20G, a if you do decide to re-build it with rods, and pistons, you'll want to run a bigger turbo than a TD06-20G, so I think it's pointless.
Just my opinion........
