Default turbo induction hose

hi guys, this is my 1st thread on here as ive only just signed up even though iv had my impreza for just over a year. its a yr2000 classic uk turbo. i found recently that the inlet hose for the turbo has perrished around the jubilee clip, so i bought another, samco this time, problem is the bend in the pipe is crushed a bit by the power steering reservoirso i never fitted it. is this ok or can i somehow relocate the power steering to the other side of the alternator as i have no aricon. thanks peops

Fitted one to a MY99, should be the same as yours, see pic of bottom of inlet manifold with hose fitted - boy is it tight!.

It also was slightly crushed by the ps reservoir, see pic. I thought it would do no harm. Also the top hose take-off fouled the mounting lug as you can see. I am going to ease the lug with a file when I get the time.

I have the same problem, Roger Clark Motorsport or Spec R do a kit to relocate the pump.

My vacuum pipe is also hard on the manifold, as can be seen here.

Not 100% certain how it works, apparently the only downside to removing it is a slight smell of petrol after you have started it up.

on the upside, a very well known mapper has said to me that when he removed his it allowed him to fit an extra 4-5 litres of petrol in the tank. something to do with the pressure on the return to tank line
