Car not starting when hot
Alright guy's.
My mates 95 WRX seems to have a stranege problem. It will start fine from cold but run it for 30 mins and turn off... Then it won't start until cold again... like up to 5 hours.
Had a look at old threads but without a search not much joy.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Graham

Poss water temp sensor.
When my old one failed, it would be fine until the car had warmed up, then fail to read -40 odd degC to the ECU. This would make it run mega rich and would never restart when hot.

Common problem and 99% of the time it is the Crank position sensor - they are magnetic and slowly get weaker and stop working when hot through the dirt that builds up on them.
You can remove and clean as a temporary fix..
The crank position sensor and cam position sensor look the same.. the cams position sensor is below the oil fillter neck.. 10mm bolt head holding it on and a couple of wires on the connector.. the crank position sensor looks the same and sits on the front of the engine between the pulleys.
Remove both the crank and cam position sensors and clean them with WD40 and a cloth or white spirit etc.. don't muddle them though as they are different.

Id start with the error codes, best way. Sounds like one of the temp sensors for sure.
