Nos is a bit of a waste of time and effort, its expensive for what it is, it does give better burn whilst its running but better burn means more heat, and consider that most of your engine is alloy....
Great on big V8 iron block engines though which dont mind excessive heat

depends what you want it for, its only real use is on the drag strip. I have a coldfusion set up and find it very good for "bang per buck" as it were.
You just have to know where to stop, a 50 shot would be a sensible max on a standard block.
As john says, they are only made of alloy!

How nitrous oxide actually works is very interesting, it isn't a flammable compound as one would expect...check the link below, the text is a bit small but gives a good idea of how it works. I think wet kits are best for road use (injects more fuel with the NO2 ideal for the odd blast), and dry for the strip (fuel is adjusted permantly to match the extra oxygen available).
