Question need advice please

i have a 95 wrx (import) i took my car to garager as my boost was dropping and staying down at 8 psi should be 15 they said it was pinking and i needed low compression pistons to fix it went to another garage they checked the plugs and coils said it stopped the pinking and the lack of boost was down to solenoid but i think i still here pinking in 4th and 5th when the turbo kicks in was going to put in iridium pugs grade 8with new coils is this good idea is there anyone else had problems with this advice please

i got told on sn to stay clear of iridium plugs as they are known to break (insulator) and bits fly through pistons, stick with ngkpfr6-7

the rubber boot that goes over plug - pull that off and look for hairline cracks, i had a couple cracked and once car was warm it would earth to engine and cause knock sensor to to trigger limp mode for half hour.
as for iridium plugs mate its your risk, i dont think they can stop det,

could the car running 8 psi instead of 15 be caused by the boost solenoid

Firstly your car shouldn't be boosting to 15psi unless you have a chip. A full decat may see you to 14psi without a chip but otherwise you should be boosting to about 13psi.

I would not go for iridium 8's, I tried that and they dont work weel with the coils. Get PFR7's and adjust to 0.7mm or even 0.6mm if running higher boost.

Buy the following bits

Knocklink and sensor.
Octane booster.

Your car is designed to run 100 ron fuel, some like 98 ron and some dont, id go for the correct fuel first, especially if your car is modified.
