idle problem when in gear...?

Default idle problem when in gear...?

hey all,

noticed today that when the car idles when in neutral all is fine...
... put the clutch in, then select a gear and it drops to somewhere around 600-700RPM

any idea whats going on??

Mmmmm, is it only when in gear Chris, or just with the clutch in...??

only when in gear mate, confused me too so i tried it a few times with just the clutch....

very odd mate.... you did put oil in the gearbox after the clutch change didn't you....... daft question, sorry, but there's clearly something causing drag in the box...

lol, yeah definetly did.... slightly overfilled it too
after the gasket escapade the other day i checked the dipstick and it was slightly over the full marker....

if the clutch is disengaged though, how is drag affecting the engine... (i see what you mean though...)

There's a small chance that it's as a result of it being a new clutch, how many miles has it now done.... it could be bedding in..... ie, if the plate is still a bit rough.. ie not bedded in yet, it could be dragging slightly, but you'd only see the symptoms when it's in gear.... cos when it's in neutral there's nothing for it to 'drag' against.....

I know what i mean...!

could it be the neutral switch not working so the ecu dosnt know when its in gear or not ?

i have the opposite problem..
idle,s fine in nuetral select any gear then revs go up to 2000,
take it back out ov gear + it takes about 30 seconds for it to slowly come back to normal, about 700 revs, not had any work done on engine recently either. so if anyones got any idea,s id be greatfull to hear em???
