Default FMIC

Hi all,

i'm interested in the TMIC group buy, but i 'd just like to gauge your responses, as to whether i need one or not.

my car is standard at the moment, its an MY99 and i want to get it to around 350/350.
i will be doing the usuall decat, turbo and remap, will be putting EL headers on as well. will this be a required mod i know there is other stuff i need as well but this would be a good buy if it will fit in with what i need.

any comments valued, i just want to avoid wasting cash on stuff i dont really need

You'd probobly get away with an STI 8 top mount, but i recently fitted a FMIC to my WRX, and absolutely love it!!!!!!

STi8 will also do the job.

Are you sure you want 350/350? Have you factored the gearbox which wont last very long at that level and suitable replacements (ie stronger) not being cheap?

Damn group buys....wheels last week, fmic the next lol....

I'm in the same boat - essentially, what are the pro's of having the fmic over the sti8 tmic?

At what point does it become more desirable to go to a fmic?

I've got an sti V5 and going the same decat and remap route + maybe odds and sods but will i need to fmic???

I'm getting a better clutch anyway cos mine is on the way out so that shouldn;t limit things to much until it gets silly...

will i notice any difference in driving chosing the FMIC over the TMIC?

Bob,

i was under the impression that the gearbox on a MY99 would just about cope with this power level? i guess i'm wrong, what is it safe to? i dont need it as a daily driver i just wanted a very quick road car (and occasional track thrown in for good measure)with bigish torque.

Mine didn't last long at 340/340, which I was well aware of before going ahead with it.

At that sort of level with hard use there was only really a couple of gearbox options, both of which are £2k+.

You may need to re-evaluate your goals, or budget for a stronger box.
