Load clunk then CEL then OK, now baffled!
My MY94 WRX was off the road last week as the CEL came on and put the car in 'safe mode', turned out it was low on oil. Had it serviced, checked over, reset the ECU everything perfect.
Was driving it yesterday (has about 300 miles under its belt since the service, all ok) up the A1 doing about 65, pulled out from behind a wagon gently accelerated, at about 3800 revs there was a massive clunk (sounded and felt like when your thrashing an old banger with knackered engine mounts and the engine is rocking about on the gear change) the vibration was enough to knock my foot off the accelerator pedal. CEL came on and stayed on but did not put car in 'safe mode'. I turned off at the next junction, pulled into a layby. Plugged in my green wires, no error codes just a nice steady pulse. CEL went off car drove the 30 miles home perfectly alright. Took itover 4000 revs in 2,3,4 and 5th to see if it would happen again, pulled like a train.
Any ideas?
