Unhappy Options regarding big end failure

My big end has failed and I was wondering what is the best action to take with regard to selling the car as it is or breaking for parts or getting a rebuild. Otherwise its a very nice car and I don't really want to just give it away.
Is there any where I could get a used engine (maybe from Japan) for a reasonable amount?
Thanks

Default Try this

I would start by placing a wanted add in the classified section of this forum, they tend to attract responses from private individuals and companies, the prices may not be a scary as you imagine.

Simply call David at www.apiengines.com and discuss the options.

He handles about 10 Impreza engines a week, is a fair man and will not rip you off. (I have been a satisfied customer)

best budget around 2 grand for a rebuild if there is not to much damage
a sti8/9 short block would be a good move if you can get hold of one
