Fooking Nightmare!!!!!!!
Jus got back from waiting 2 hours in the cold Newcastle weather, waiting for an RAC guy then a flatbed recovery truck!
Think my engine is siezed! Booting it up a motorway, then lost power, making a very unhealthy noise. Came off slip road and the enigine stalled. Tried to crank it over and it started for 5 secs, sounded very rough, as on 3 cylinders, oil light stayed on, then cut out!
Tried again (foolish) and there was a nasty screeching noise (could it be the piston ring in the bore?).
I'M ABSOLUTELY GUTTED
Where can I take it to be looked at in the Newcastle area? How much for a rebuild?
Cheers guys!!!!

not much choice up here for rebuilds, as performance do them i think, in birtley, that blue wrx u raced is very quick innit ( my friend mr F), sti motors do go bang just as much as wrx's think its cos they get revved harder, and u must always run them with top oil and fuel, never give my sti the limiter, anyway u will prob be looking at 4 g to fix it if the bum has gone on it and more if owt else has been damaged, the banks love subaru pilots.

Yeah, Mr. F's car is fast! I did beat him last week when my car had full power!!!
Surely it can't be as much as £4000?
I'll give AS a ring this afternoon, might have to plump for a 2nd hand block!

ur looking at 2.5K for a rebuild. Shop around...its worth paying a couple of hundred quid to get ur car transported to a reputable garage who will do it for a reasonable price.
where the hell did 4k come from?

Mine is costing 4k for a rebuild after the big end went but I am having a few goodies added as well.
I only had the STI V3 two weeks then BANG. Mine is being done in the south east by someone who builds race engines and scooby engines as there is plenty of work out there!!!!!, but I have been without her for 4 months now (missed all the good shows).
As I read through the posts it seems a big end on a scooby happens every day.

Yeah, gave Alyn a bell, he's dead helpful!
Basically, if it's the engine thats playing up, I'm looking at anywhere between £1000 and £2000.
Can't believe this
Goin the check the ECU fault codes to see if that gives me any clues!
Does anyone know how to read the fault codes please???????

Just been searching old threads, Saxonfields website is under construction!
Said a bit about old codes and resetting ECU. Problem I have is that I don't know how to reset the ECU (Battery disconnected for 1hr???) and that I cannot drive the car after the reset??????
Nightmare!

Checked ECU fault codes, nothing that would lead to this problem!
Code 24 - Idle control
Code 44 - Wastegate solinoid
Code 45 - Wastegate solinoid
44 and 45 are due to my Apexi boost controller, it uses its own solinoid so OE doesn't get a signal.
Looks like I'll have to put it into AS Performance an take it from there!

After leaving the car stood outside for a week, I decided to pull my finger out! Rang the RAC to tell them I'd broken down again in the hope they'd trailor me to AS Performance, well, didn't work!
While the guy was with me he asked me to crank her over. This time she started and fired, but made a horrible screeching noise like metal on metal. He said he thinks it is partially siezed! Sounds like it!
Would this mean it's fixable, or would I still need a full rebuild? I think the oil pressure is low?????

Every time you turn it over, or start it up, you will be doing more damage. Parts that may have been retrievable, will probably have been damaged now.
DON'T start, or turn it over, just get it to Alyn so he can sort it out.
Mark.
