Quite a few "choice" mods & lost 30BHP!!??!!??
anyone got any ideas?
The car is a MY95 UK which initially was a bit of a freak because with just a decat & induction it pulled 297BHP & 250 lb/ft. This was verified at 2 rolling roads just to be sure (Tuning Japanese & Power Engineering).
I then added a ScoobyECU which upped the boost to 1.15bar (Ish) and the car got 311BHP & over 260lb/ft. This was nearly 3 yrs ago. See the graphg below:
Since then i've added the following:
Angle exit backbox
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Megan Headers
440 Injectors
FMIC
Apexi Power FC & Commander
Apexi AVC-R (1.4bar peak)
Bosch Coils
Magnecor Leads
Uprated Fuel Pump
STI4 Block
Lightweight pulleys
Now anyone in their right mind would think "hey there's another 30-40BHP there so you might break the 350BHP barrier". But no! To my total suprise today I got 279BHP & 279 lb/ft See the graphs below:
BHP vs Torque
PSI vs AFR
Some of you will straight away notice that on the rollers today I was only hitting around 1.2bar. I don't know why this was because on the way home I was comfortably hitting between 1.33bar & 1.41bar? But still the car (you would have thought) should be more power.
The car feels quicker than it ever has & is a lot smoother than it ever has been so i'm at a total loss?
Anyone got any ideas?

to start with, we are compairing 2 different types of RR , but , saying that the BHP has moved down, but the torque has gone up significantly.
a few things:
1) 1bar boost isnt made till 4k+ where are you were making this a full 1000rpm earlier on your previous setup (what is it doing it on the road @ ? )
2) cars never usually make 'road' boost on the rollers. they can be made to by upping the duty a bit prior, but again , differences of RR v Road
3) 3rd or 4th gear run ?
4) its a RR and not 'the road'
Has anyone else on the day got a boost plot for a similar spec car ? I would think the boost is possibly th reason in the comparison. but even a td04 car will not make boost till 3200 on a RR typically, and on the road it makes it @ 2600 !
oh, and that original engine of yours was an alien !

2) Other cars on the day were making the same boost. I found it funny though how my boost gradually got more as I got closer to home. I suppose this could be to do with the air temp dropping and the fact that it was mapped in the pi$$ing cold rain?
3) 3rd gear run
4) Point
Similar spec car I suppose would have been either dogpole or Ted Ed and there's were both at the 300-330 mark.
I really am beginning to wonder what was in my old block

my boost was down on the day.
On the road it peaks at 22psi and holds 20-19psi all the way to the line, but on the RR it peaked at 19psi and curve dropped to 16psi at the line.
For info i'm still running with a TMIC.

My boost on the day was not consistent with my road boost either, normally peaks at 20.5psi and settles to about 19.5 psi all the way to the red line.
Yesterday it peaked at 18 and fell back to 17psi by 7Krpm.
Still hit 300 though.
Sorry MAFFA couldnt resist it

In your first graph the torque figures are way out. Either the rolling road was goosed, or your car was slipping on the rollers, boost hit peak at 3000rpm but the torque doesn't shoot up till 5000rpm? I don't think so.
As for the Clinic rolling road graph, the DD rolling road seems quite good at not allowing the road boost curve to be replicated, however you're still running less more boost than in the previous RR graph.
Not sure what to suggest.

less more boost
i dont recall it slipping on that occasion, and as you say Matt, its been RR'ed @ PE too.do you have that graph to hand ? not that it'll show boost
just looked @ 2 other graphs from the same place/day, and one from a previous occasion and the boost is always like that on them !
your running more boost, should have lower TB temps (due to FMIC) and theoretically a bit more advance and leaner than OEM (i should thing - certainly towards higer RPM) but ... you have changed the block, the heads and a shed load of other things. exhaust headers ?

There was no rpm pick up either at Scooby clinic (that i could see), just Intake temp placed at the air filter, boost plot taken from nipple on the inlet manifold on mine and afr probe up the exhaust pipe.

Thats all that counts
I think we all get used to our cars, think they are not as powerful as they used to be and hence get them on the rollers.
Just need to drive slowly for a while, or drive a crap car (like an FQ340 ) and then you will appreciated it again

Crap car LOL. It's got the half leather interior which is nice, the dash has always left a lot to be desired but as a drivers car it's an awesome bit of kit
I however cannot afford £30k

They tweeked it a little but it was still only hitting about 1.3bar at peak. Hey ho I know it's quick, it feels v. quick & i'm happy with it....numbers mean nothing in the end when you can smoke an FQ340
