Camshaft Sensor

Camshaft Sensor
Hello
My ECU is reportng a failed camshaft sensor and car is showing associated hesitation problems and not starting occasionally when hot.
What I would like to know is.....
How much do they cost to replace.
Some mentioned you can clean them, is this so, how do you do it?
Can I change it myself, if so where is it?
Thanks in advance for any advice
Benno

However I have brand new Subaru ones in stock that I purchased direct from Japan that we retail for £44.78+VAT. We also have low price crank sensors in stock if any one needs one.
The sensor is based @ the top of the LH side of the engine near the cambelt cover & oil filler & should only take about half an hour to replace. Your reported fault ties up with failure of the cam or crank sensor.

Sounds good Andy, I have a MY95 WRX (Import). I think I will start with the camshaft sensor.
What is the best way to order one? Should I just call up the number on your website?
thanks

if you need a quick limp home fix....
just unplug and reconnect the suspect sensor,, it will allow you to drive the car..
i had the same,,, bought the cam sensor.... it turned out to be the crank.

7 mins flat, managed to get my wheels rotated in 45 minutes as well maybe i should apply for a position with an F1 pit crew.
ECU diagnostics is showing the all clear now, unfortunately it is still running rough when cold, looks like it's off to the mechanics.
