£500 - £550 with a dealer or maybe a touch cheaper with a specialist.

Just had mine done.

Use a specialist, and try to supply as much stuff (oil, filter, fluids etc) as you can. Paying cash may also reap dividends Mine was IRO 300

According to receipt, previous owner of my 2001 bugeye WRX had 30,000 mile service done for £242 inc. VAT (June 2003) from a Subaru main dealer - and that included oil at £44.

I had the 50,000 mile cambelt service inc MOT and VAT done for £381 at my local Subaru main dealer - but I supplied the fully synthetic oil which only cost me about £25 from Opie Oils when I was down in Redruth.

Hope you get some more advice and quotes along the lines and costs I have detailed.

Paul

Can someone please confirm what gets done at the 30k service?

I have a 2001 Bug-eye with 22k miles, its not had a belt change, should i get this done despite the mileage....

Also, whats belt / belts need changed, just the timing?

Thanks,
Chris.

It's all in the Service and Warranties Booklet but basically the 30,000 mile service is change/replace oil and oil filter, coolant/antifreeze, transmission and diff. oils, air filter, spark plugs and filters and fuel filter - plus inspections of all major bits and bobs like brakes, hoses, axle joints etc. etc.

Replace 'Camshaft Drive Belt' is officially at 50,000 mile service - based on normal driving.

I rang loads of dealers when I had mine done, most were the same price at £450 inc vat, one wanted to stick vat on that.. you'll save a few ££'s going to a good indi, but be sure they are quoting exactly like for like, whats considered to be in the 30k can vary, what pmarch says is pretty well it..

Re the cam belt, again check in your book, there was a thread on this recently and it does seem to vary.. my '01 WRX book says 60k or 4 years, so I did it at 4 years even though it was only on 29k..

Read the small print in the service/warranties book very carefully - it's def. 50,000 miles for a turbo WRX -the 60,000 refers to non-turbo - and this was confirmed by both Subaru dealer and Subaru4You (a highly esteemed independent garage).

Paul, my August 2001 owners handbook section 11-4, it says 60k, only point on which it differentiates 'non turbo' from 'turbo' is on spark plugs...It may say something different in the warrenty book, but I dont have a UK warrently book to refer to..

In the other thread on the same subject recently there seemed to be a few different schedules kicking around..

No matter anyway, I did mine at 4 years/29k...

IMO for what it costs, change it at 4 years regardless of the miles..
