when i fitted my pump roger clark motorsport said the pump would eventually overpower the standard reg. other people on here have said this is not the case. i took rc's advice and fitted an sx which has the advantage over the standard one of being adjustable.

I use a Walbro 255 with 550's on a RCM built BRD mapped car with std reg it's been at this spec for a year now without any probs, not saying the std reg won't die but it's not necessary to do it at the same time.
I will get round to fitting an SX one day.

You may need an adjustable FPR but not necessarily.
You could fit the pump and 550s and see if all is well. Chances are it will be. Alternatively you could go for a belt and braces approach and fit an adjustable FPR which could make mapping a bit easier or add flexibility.
What have you to loose by trying it and see???
