Default What else should I add to the list of mods.

Ive been thinking for my 04 WRX.

VF28 Turbo
Decat downpipe
Decat uppipe
Decat midsection
Backbox
Ecutek remap

What else could or should I add to the list, any ideas.

Also how much bhp can the standard WRX Intercooler take, and what injectors are fitted and how much bhp could they handle.

Sorry for all the questions, but im thinking of keeping my scoob and spending a bit of money on her.

I'd go for the STi intercooler as it's much bigger and STi injectors although i still have WRX injectors and i'm getting 336bhp but they are getting near the limit.

For the engine side I'd think about an Sti TMIC / sti injectors / fuel pump / silicone hoses/ Andy F TD04 hybrid or TD05 plus what you had mentioned

http://shop.scoobynet.co.uk/Product.asp?ProductID=1142

and

Getting rid of the "car on stilts" look with springs / geometry

What spec is your car Granby.

Also what cc are the injectors, as I bought 550cc injectors for my old MY00 and the standard 440cc injectors would have done the job, so I dont want to waste money on injectors if I dont need to.

Don't forget if you go for an STI TMIC you'll also need the scoop undertray and ideally the scoop or you'll have to 'adapt' the undertray to your WRX scoop. (not impossible if you have access to tin snips and a rivit gun..).

There was an STI8 TMIC in the for sale section the other day..!

Granby: your spec below, what's the spool-up like with the VF34 and where did you get it dyno'd, good figures..?

STi intercooler
VF34 turbo
Full decat

It was dyno'd at SVA imports in Dover.
It spools from about 3000 and then by 3500 all hell breaks loose

foget scoobynet for a start - email br development and ask what he advises and get it mapped by him its easy when you know how

I went for a vf35 with a p18 housing ( makes it like a vf34) and it is laggy in comparison to your td04 - my dad got left by a 220 TT the other day as it caught him off boost on the motorway

BUT now I wish I went for a td05 18g but it never stops and the best bit of advice you will get on here is buy nothing sell the car and get a STI PPP or you will be stuck with a wrx thats worth nothing - but I bet you don't listern

WRX Rich

Wise words about finding the mapper first Bob "Guru" Rawle mapped by car

Don't worry about not having the TD05 18G, I've got one on my car and along with the FMIC it certainly cannot match the TD04 for low down boost

No contest at 4500 RPM though...

WRX rich

I made 370 and Ninnybobs made 404 on our last outing

I have to be sympathetic to the Clutch / gearbox / engine as I don't actually own the car until 2007 (when the loan is paid off) so no probs so far

I don't think Ninnybobs has had any probs either

I'm not sure who else has the 18G ??

Was thinking of selling the car, but then you've got the hassle of selling it, then buying another one and ive already been through 4 cars in about 2 years, so this time im keeping this one for a bit, and ive already spent a load of money on wheels, spoilers, front lips etc, So Ive got the car looking right, and now I want a bit of power to go with it.

its the wrong option mate but it is fun -
as std the springs and the anti rol bar made the car far more fun to drive

at 280 bhp the std brakes needed changeing

after 300 bhp you start to worry about the gear box , I bet I could come home with it in peices quite easy, I might be wrong but not brave enough to try it

after 320bhp you still want more as the power has been moved up the rev range and the car doesn't feel quite as in your face on the tight back lanes but feels vastly more powerfull on the dual tracks and big roundabouts

wrx ( have to pay off all the car bills or shes walking ) Rich

This is exactly where I am now and its interesting to read other people's opinions. My '03 wrx runs beautifully with standard td04, but full decat and remap, so somewhere between 280 and 290bhp. The exhaust note is fantastic and the car looks good. Dealer offered me £11300 for it (returned to standard) and private sale might get £12,500. A good '03 or '04 sti ppp or tsl 333 would cost £16,500 - £17,500. So its £4 or £5k to find.

Alternatively I spend around £2,500 on VF34, ported headers, sti injectors, fuel pump, sti8 intercooler, more mapping and better brakes. Maybe 340ish bhp. Then there is the worry (as above) of broken gearbox and clutches, maybe a piston. Difficult decision, in wanting more power but I don't want to knacker a perfectly good car and end up spending silly money putting it right again. Must have more power....Obviously one should have got an sti in the first place and one is aware of this

I've just bought a vf34 being fitted next week then remapped by Andy F.
What boost pressure are you running to get that power??

A bit too much in my opinion (i've seen peak 1.55 bar) so i'm thinking of getting Bob to reduce it a bit although he says that the Defi gauges do overread a bit but i think i'll still get him to reduce the boost (better be safe than sorry)
