Resonator centre pipe?
What does the resonator centre pipe do? Does it quieten the noise?
Got a PPP on MY00 UK classic so it has resonator centre, will replacing this with straight through pipe make more noise?
Looking for louder backbox as well so is it worth replacing resonator centre as well?
(Not going for downpipe decat just yet)!
Also, anyone gone from Prodrive backbox to louder (Ninja, Firestorm, Blitz, HKS, TSL, Afterburner, etc) and noticed a LOT of noise increase?
Cheers
Dave

hey mate, not to well up on the ppp stuff etc but yes if you change the resonated centre pipe (or is it a cat pipe? - dont know!) it will go louder and louder still if you buy an aftermarket b/box. would highley recommend the scoobyworld afterburner vortex system, sounds the dogs and many will agree!

If your car is a Wagon the middle box is a resonator, only one cat on the
Wagon and that's in the downpipe.
As for Saloons, they have two cats, one in the downpipe and one in the centre.
It's PPP'd so i believe they remove the centre cat and replace with a resonated
centre box.
If you put a straight through pipe on, then yes you will have a db increase.
Now the fun bit, back boxes.
Depends on what your after, i have the Ninja on my Wagon and i have to say
it's just what i was after, gives a nice deep burble on cruise/tickover, but
when you give it some gas it howls like a good un !!!!
Try going into www.scoobyworld.co.uk you'll find some sound files for both
the Afterburner and the Ninja.
All the best

Thanks for replies. (saloon BTW)
Looks like I need a straight through centre and louder backbox.
Which backbox suits this description:
Very distinctive burble/rumble and could only be on a scooby (you hear it and think scooby immediately).
Deep and rumbly at tickover.
Keeps the distinctive scooby noise through the range.
Doesn't get too raspy or high pitched at full chat.
Obviously V. Loud.....

vortex angled back box and straight through centre is what you want
but its down to personal choice, the blitz is a loud system too. others like firestorm etc also to consider but again, so many have afterburner b/boxes and love them
