How much power?
Just wondering how much power my WRX Sti should be running. It's a 1996 version 2 Sti which has the 275bhp red top engine. It has also the following upgrades;
Blitz SUS Power induction kit
Apexi SAFC boost controller (all dials +1 notch)
Hayward & Scott 3" downpipe
Blitz NUR Spec 3" bore centre section and backbox
(Engine boosting at 1.2 bar)
How much power should this be? Was hoping around the 330bhp mark.
What is my next step in the search for power? Was thinking of a remap, how much are they? Would I need an upgraded fuel pump?
Thanks very much!!!!!!

I'm running Optimax with Millers octane booster in every tank, so should be around or over the 100 RON mark.
I thought that the full exhaust system itself added around 30bhp?
Where can I get a Re-map around the Newcastle area (willing to travel) and what power and cost could I expect?
Cheers!

Nick, why not pop along to the TYNE TEES SCOOBY club meet on tuesday the 4th of oct, we can have a good chin wag about what is involved in tuning your car up to what you want.
there are a few guys that are running cars over 400bhp and would be willing to share info on what is needed.
you have a good base car there that would benefit from an apexi ecu, andy f supplies fits and maps them at a very good price.
he is in the Edinburgh area so it's not too far away.

its not the ecu that will strain the gearbox its all the extra power you want i have virtually the spec your after and had to change my gearbox. jonnygav had similar spec and got away with his 5 speed depends on how lucky you are, as it happens im not very opps just read your only after 350bhp so you should be ok

I'm only after around the 350bhp mark, don't really want to fork out for a new gear box!
Was thinking of a fmic from Harvey Smith and an Apexi ECU. Hopefully this will reach the 350bhp mark??????
What box would I upgrade to if needs be? A later STi 6/7/8 6 speed or what???
Cheers

the v5/6 sti 5MT have proven themselves capable of good power for a long time, it depends more on your driving style though, if you have a little mechanical sympathy it will go a long way to extending the life of your gearbox.
a front mount and apexi ECU would be the next things on my shopping list if that were my car

I don't like rammimg the gears through the changes, although I do like to put my foot down! (Would be rude not to!) So I do have a bit of mechanical sympathy!
I suppose the standard turbo would be holding the power back from then? Would I only be able to reach what the turbo is restricted to or could I hit 350bhp with the standard WRX STI V.2 turbo?????
Thanks very much!!!!

the sti v2 has a TD05 turbo that i have seen push out over 370bhp with the right supporting mods, the next thing to look at would be fuel pump/regulator/injectors as the standard 380cc injectors are maxed out at around 330bhp with raised fuel pressure.

nickwrxstiV2, i have almost the same car as you (STi Ra V2). The spec is similar too, (induction kit, full de-cat exhaust, raised boost 1.0 Bar and using optimax + millars octane plus).
I had it rolling roaded about this time last year and it made 308 BHP @ 7200rpm.
I think this is about the limit with the standard intercooler.

I thought the V2 STi had the 440cc injectors???
So would it be best to upgrade the fuel pump and regulator before any other mods???
Thanks

yes it would mate.....
do you have a de-cat downpipe???
if not then that would be my next purchase.
list of work in order-
de-cat down pipe (if needed)
walbro 255L fuel pump
adjustable fuel pressure regulator 1:1
front mount intercooler
apexi ecu with re-map
then if you feel that isn't enough-
440cc or 550cc injectors
ported or tubular headers
that little lot should keep you busy for a while

Cheers Jonny_Gav!
So it has the 440cc injectors? I thought it did! Still learning!
Yeah my Scoob has a H&S 3" downpipe, totally decatted.
Do you know of anywhere in the north east that is reputible enough to supply and fit a Walbro fuel pump and pressure regulator? Will the fuel pump and reg give any performance? Or is it just a platform to build from?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!

sorry if i didn.t make it a bit clearer, here goes
93-96 jap and uk = 380cc (your car)
97-98 jap = 440cc
97-98 uk = 380cc
99-00 jap and uk = 440cc
a little complicated i know but so is everything subaru
for pump suppiers and fitting give alyn a ring at AS-PERFORMANCE (0191 4103770) in birtley, you will be hard pushed to find the pump and reg cheaper elsewhere and fitting won't be a problem either
