Max Maf voltage on my95
Just wondered what the maximum output voltage is on an 95 Maf?
The reason i'm asking is that the Power Fc commander is showing a max of 5100mv? I had always though sensors etc were 1-5v
It still has the standard air box but ive got a pipe from the bumper directly into the airbox just wonder if this is pushing more air through the maf than it can measure once it's up to 80mph+ (on my private test track of course )

I know that, hence the reason i'm questioning my 1-5v theory, how can it put out 5.1v if it has a maximum of 5v?
The other reason i was wondering about this was that i've had a couple of random high knock readings on the commander, if there was more air going in than the meter knew about etc......

You can get the MAF to read higher than 5V (the power supply to the MAF is 12V unlike most of the other sesnors which take 5V). But either way the MAF is now topped out and you need to start thinking about sorting a MAF capable of flowing more (300ZX etc).
LOL @ the cold air feed pushing more air thru'. The turbo is sucking more air through the MAF than a cold air feed could possible hope to force thru' (even @ 200mph)... that will not be a problem at all.
Tony.

Fair enough mate, this is all new to me but i had a feeling that the maf was pretty much maxed out, but a 100mph of air must have some push behind it?
If you look at the maf voltage in the lower gears it doesn't get that high it only seems to be once it's above 80-90mph that the maf voltage gets up to 5.1v
Are the z32 300zx or q45 skyline maf's a straight swap with the exception of getting the ecu re-calibrated to suit?

The higher gears will generally result in more boost as there is more time for it to build. You really don't want to be running that high on the MAf sensor, as if it goes beyond the 5.12v maximum the powerfc will not know, and will neither retard the ignition nor add fuel.

That was the concern i had.
Which of the nissan units would i be best to fit then, Z32 300zx or a Q45 Skyline one?
My mate has an R33 GTS and his air flow meter looks remarkably similar, the plug is the same design but would it be a straight forward fit? ie are the connections inside the unit the same? accepted that ill need to get the power fc re-calibrated to suit.
Both of these units are currently available on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300ZX-F...QQcmdZViewItem

Does the current bid of 60 sound like a fair price assuming it works that is!!!
Or take a bigger chance on the one fron Japan?
