Default switchable ecu maps

with the rising cost of petrol recently i was wondering would it be possible to have an ECU that could switch between an economical mode and an all out fuel guzzling monster ??

has anyone done this ??

If you want 'ecomomy' drive off boost with a light right foot..!;!

Failing that buy a TDI.

Chris is partially correct. You can only switch the boost.. not the whole map, but lower boost and higher boost use different areas of the map (if boost is far enough apart).

I have only mapped my own car on two fuels.. on Apexi PFC.. boost level of 1bar and normal unleaded, boost level of 1.4bar for super unleaded, every other car I have mapped people have wanted it mapped on super or super + booster, but with current prices of fuel this might be a good idea.

Unfortunatly it takes a bit more work than a normal ecu remap to set up, you need 95ron fuel in the tank and full remap the car to lower boost setting..
Then run fuel down / change to higher octane fuel etc and remap for higher boost.

You will lose out very slightly in some of the lower off boost areas of the map as 95ron will not allow as much timing to be run etc..

Sorry to barge in, on a slightly different note how does an apexi pfc compare to a tek3 in regards to performance / top bhp.

I don`t think he is bothered about swithching fuels, but wants a second map in the ECU, to run a lower boost setting on the same fuel. So on your performance map run 1.4 bar, and on your economy map run 0.7 bar max. just for when your quite happy to be tootling on the motorway or not interested in being a nutter. Duel mapping has the advantage of not making the cockpit of your beloved scoob looking like a jet fighter put together by a commitee.

If you don't want to run different fuel then you definitly don't need switchable maps just an electronic boost controller or Apexi ecu or similar..

Or just have some disipline and don't use your right foot too hard
