Default Changing the spark plugs whilst engine is warm

Have just changed the plugs on my scoob - How important is it to change them when the engine is cold - The reason I ask is I did it with the engine warm - Will this give any problems?

Cheers

May affect how tight they are screwed in, as the plugs and heads expand and contract differently with temperature. Just nip 'em up with your torque wrench to the recommended torque and all should be well.

I didnt actually use a torgue wrench!!! Would the plugs work loose after being tightened when the block is warm or would they maybe get tighter?

Always replace them when the engine is cold.

You should be fine

Metal expands when its warm so torqued to the correct setting you might find that the plugs have tightened a fraction of a turn more than if the engine was cold though

I have got a new set of plugs for my car and I havent changed plugs on an scooby before it looks a bit tight to get a socket and ratchet in.

Did you have to remove some of the hoses in order to get to them??

The easiest way is to change them from under the car you don't have to move anything

As above....

What a load of old boll0cks.....

If you're fitting new plugs, when you do them up you are actually squashing the crush washer against a flat surface of the head - Do you really think this is going to 'contract' when the engine cools down

morpheous - Mention psl's name 3 times and he will appear

BING!!!!!

ScoobyNet **** Advice Alert!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the ScoobyNet **** Club members??

Here we go ......... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...SNAnalClub.jpg

So?? we not only have to remove the spark plugs before we fire up the engine after an oil change ...... but we ALSO have to carry out the operation with the engine and plugs at a certain temperature??????

Another one for the 'BOLLOX' catalogue!!

engine must be as hot as possible. when refitting you must place one of your bollocks each side of the top radiator hose. the resulting heat soak will relax your **** muscles therefore you should be able to remove your head from your ****.

sorry but its so stupid a question i couldnt resist!!!!
