What age is your car?

Could be a few things; anti roll bar bushes, steering rack bushes, suspension bushes, drop links or the steering rack itself.

Check that all the bolts on the front suspension are tight. See if there is any play in the drop links (you'll need to do this without the car jacked up otherwise they will be under tension and very hard to check).

Try taking it to one of the Subaru specialists if your not sure what to look for.

A secondhand rack can be had quite cheaply (depending on the model of your car) which could be an option.

Dave.

Good info in the replies. Exactly the same problem.

I have post it here but almost no reply, no comment, as usual. Is something wrong about my nickname or about me myself? Very closed community here ((

I had the same problem aswell and came to the conclusion that it was a bent stering rack. I had 2 knocks from lock to lock but only when going from left to right. Found out the column was hitting off the turbo heatshield.

Must disagree - this is generally a very open and helpful community. If you have a problem there is almost always someone with useful knowledge.
ivosh - Mmm! you're not a bogus Albanian assylum seeker are you?
