As for a good upgrade, you could go for a TD05 off a UK car, good for
around 350 bhp i believe, spools up slower but gives a bigger kick.

I thought it was the other way round. I also have a '93 WRX. Are you telling me that after over 2 years of me thinking that I have a TD05 that I dont
If so, then they must have put the TD05 into slightly later WRXs as I know that they had them until they changed the WRX standard power to 280 ps around 1997-98.

It's a TD05 16g, without a shadow of a doubt
Good for about 350 flywheel hp, with the correct additional mods
If you are maxing out the 16g, then an 18g would probably be a good bet.

There are far more technically knowledgeable people on here than us and hopefully one will be along soon
I can absolutely guarantee that if we do have a TD04 (which I am doubtful of) then yes a TD05 will bolt on in replacement, but you would need to get a mappable ECU to get the full benefit. The joys of Japanese performance motoring

Nah sorry. Unless it's a Wagon I say td05. Good for close to 350 with mods.
ScottT (Can't get much more knowledgeable than that) confirmed the TD05 ScoobyECU I was selling suited all Turbos from 1992 – 1996 (except WRX WAGON). 'nuff said!
Put in a ScoobyECU and with a decat will push close to 260-280.. More than that you would need injectors, new pump/regulator and decent management system (PowerFC is pretty good value).
