My 93 is coughin and spluttering a bit, and even conkin out on idle (I aint drivin it!!!!) MAF is showing on the codes, but the AA reckoned it could be the coil packs.

my money's on the MAF, any ideas?

try disconnecting the maf, if it does the same chances are it is the maf, specially with it showing on the diagnostics. If it doesnt start or cuts out immediately with the maf disconnected then you could try cleaning the wires on the maf (the ones that the air flows through), if you do this though be very careful as not to damage the wires.

My coil packs didnt show up as any fault code and all 4 looked dubious.
Mainly felt a slight hiccup when the boost was coming into play.Dunno if that helps you in anyway...

Coils usually fail under load i.e. weak spark gets blown out under WOT and on boost. Simply disconnecting the MAF will show if it's that as it will instantly run better (light throttle/tickover only)

Even on Apexi, Rev ?? Does that compensate for failing MAF as OEM ecu's do ??

No it doesn't compensate, if you have a failing MAF with a Power FC it's very obvious.

"Simply disconnecting the MAF will show if it's that as it will instantly run better (light throttle/tickover only)"

So, when the car is idling/tickin over, if I diconnect my MAF and the car stalls then my MAF is broke???

I'm not sure stalling counts as running better...

I think they mean if you disconnect it it should cut out instantly if you're MAF was ok, if it tries to run on it's dying.

Thought so Tony, but how is it obvious tho' ... the sensor page on the hand commander or the voltage on the monitoring air flow screen?

" I think they mean if you disconnect it it should cut out instantly if you're MAF was ok, if it tries to run on it's dying."

This is why I posted the stupid statement. From what I read it implied if I disconnect the MAF the car should
"run better (light throttle/tickover only)".

But mine stalls. AFAIK this means it is providing correct info for the engine to run and without it the car will not work so my MAF must be working at least.

If you know the air flow values you normally run then these will reduce. I.e monitor air flow..... if it runs 4.5v peak @ WOT normally then starts only running 4.0V you know its not right. Plus by this time it will be detting its **** off... so your knock level in the monitor window will be very high and the CEL light will be flashing it's **** off. If you miss all that then buy some glasses

Tony.
