Do an ECU check to see if you have any codes, mind you sometimes they don't show up
Fault code 23

Cost a fortune on early cars and UK ones should fit JDM try:

mine dies straight away when you unplug the MAF (and i mean like you turned the key off). My friend's, with a dying MAF, chugged for a couple of seconds then died.

But you should get a similar effect if you reset the ecu, as the reason it tries to keep going is the ecu has compensated for the MAF a bit, or thinks it has.

Could try a spraying on some brake cleaner but this could also finish it off.

Why do people say spray with carb cleaner? Its a sealed unit. What exactly are you going to spray?
