Same with my 96 wrx import, it's limited to 120. Does anyone know if its expensive to be done? Cheers

Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong! But chipping / remapping the ECU is the way to do it!

Scoobyecu is your best bet! or silmiler! Plug n play!

Mine used to limit at 118 till i chipped it! now it goes off the clock

a mechanical speedo convertor should raise the limit from 180km/h to 180mph as the car will still think it's kilometres.

A 1993 uses a limiter in the speedo so that when it reaches its full sweep at 180kmh (112mph) is cuts the power. The answer is to buy a mechanical delimiter, available on ebay, subaru websites/forums. Don't pay more than £60. You take the clocks out, unplug the speedo cable, plug in the delimiter and plug the speedo cable into it. This alters the dash so that it is now in miles rather than kilometres. Stick a mph sticker over your kmh badge and your limiter is now effectively at 180mph so if you manage to hit the limiter now you're doing 180mph and you've just fallen off a cliff!

Tony.

get an fcd (fuel cut defender) available from places like www.whifbitz.co.uk or the apexi rev speed meter also de limits the car, bout 100 squid for the fcd, very simple

All the FCD will do is raise the boost cut - To derestrict a chip with the speed cut raised is probably the best option (Scoobyecu will derestrict and allow safer use of Optimax) - though a speedo convertor can be used

Cheers

I have a ScoobyECU which will up your boost to 1.1 bar (up to 280bhp with decat), safe for UK fuel and remove the speed limiter. Was in my Scoob for 3 years before the car was sold and ECU removed.

send me pm if interested.

agreed this is what you need not a ecu chip not a fuel cut defencer and new it costs about 70 £100 at the most if you have it fitted ecu and fuel cut is for over boosting

right guys im lost!!!

so i need a ScoobyEcu? or a Mechanical Speedo Convertor? or a DeLimiter?

i thought the Speedo Convertor was purely just to change the car from KPH to MPH? and you had to get something else to actually de-restrict the car?

HELP!!!

No the mechanical converter ( which fits between your gearbox and speedo cable ) will de-restrict your car as this is what I did when I first got my MY93 WRX, you can take the Scoobyecu option to also overcome the issue and to gain more BHP over the standard ECU which is onboard
