AFR Gauge all over the place

AFR Gauge all over the place
Just fitted my Autometer AFR gauge.
When I start the car up, the gauge is all over the place, it hangs around in the red zone for a while then moves into orange, touches green, back to red then orange etc etc.
When driving on part throttle it's all over the place, mainly in orange zone but does flicker into the red a fair amount aswell.
But on full throttle max boost (1.2 - 1.25 bar) it stays in the orange and lights up 1 green led aswell.
Is this normal to have so much activity ? or should I be worried ?
Also when I shut the throttle off (over run etc) or move to very slight throttle or under breaking, then it shoots into red for a second or 2 and then all lights go out until I use the throttle again.
Is that normal ? or again should I be worried.
Sorry for all these questions but after finding that chip in my ecu last night, im a little paranoid.
Cheers in advance.

hey mate
my afr is a needle type and when the car is just ticking over it is normal for it to flick back and to (lean to rich) so dont worry!!
when you accelerate the more you floor it the richer it should go (and stay) and when you lay off the gas it will show lean and once the car has settled again and stood still it will flick back and to. perfectly normal!

It's working fine, don't worry!
Slow response when you start up is due to the Lambda sensor needing to warm up before giving proper readings / fast response.
Off boost it will flick up and down.
On boost / hard throttle it should be in the green, which is a litle rich but safe. When you lift off, to save fuel / be environmentally friendly there is little / no fuel injected so it goes to red ( weak ) and off scale .. no worries, as you aren't putting any load on engine so is ok.
A knocklink is for different reason but worthwhile if an import, modded, or used hard. It detects and flashes when the engine is detonating / pinking / pre-ignition occurs - i.e. when things are not right and you may lose a piston / valve edge/seat or even a bearing due to the force in the opposite direction when the fuel ignites while piston is still moving upwards...
Weak air / fuel mixture is hotter and may burn piston edges or melt holes!

cheers for the info.
However I thought it would have been safer if fuel was still injected when you come off the throttle if only to cool the cylinders down a little ?
Oh well, least it seems to be ok
