Default Oil smoke from under turbo shield

Hi,
I'm a bit of a Subaru newby but have a 99T Prodrive 5 door.....got burning oil smoke coming from aorund the turbo shield.....also a screeching noise that sounds like a belt but cam belt is new.
Any ideas?

Also - have heard horror stories about the cost of rebuilds - what's the truth?

Hi, more than likely to be a rocker cover gasket leaking onto the manifold, creating puffs of smoke every now & again. Easy to fix expect to pay about 85.00 quid per side

Screeching could well be the belt so would be worth popping into your local dealer/specialist

Thxs - when the turbo cools down i'll take off the cover and investigate.
Does anyone have any info regarding bottom end rebuilds - reasonable DIY job or specialist?
