Will post some pics later today.
Only before/after comparison I have is, The week before fitting the FMIC I fitted a Apexi pfc ( its not mapped yet ) but I had a knock of upto 49 and after fitting FMIC the highest I have had is 19.
So it must have took the intake temps down conciderably.

Pics as promised.
View from front.

Under bonnet view.

Hole I had to cut in inner wing.

Pipe comes very close to cambelt cover.

Pipe from turbo is very close to inlet pipe to throttle body.

My car is a 95 Model classic.
The kit is designed for the later classic and should bolt straigh on to the later model with just the bumper to cut, and pipe from turbo should line up with existing hole in inner wing.
On the earlier classic like mine you need to cut a hole in the inner wing, cut approx 3cm off the pipe where it joins the throttle body and a little off the pipe that joins to the turbo. Also some metal needs trimming off the body of the car underneath the bumper and finally sh*tloads off the bumper.

Good for you.
The hybrid I purchased was the cheapest available at the time with next day delivery as a bonus, but why you feel the need to compare your FMIC to mine price wise is beyond me.
My point in this thread is that the Ebay Hybrid link in the opening post has the sales pitch saying how improved the latest GT spec tube and fin design is, flowing 15% better (no mention of cooling capacity, I'm sure a 3 foot piece of pipe can flow even faster) then the same Ebay seller has a bar and plate design FMIC also for sale - since according to his sales blurb - tube and fin is a radiator design and isn't up to spec for a FMIC.
LOL and all that.

No probs
Its all a bit of a gamle with Ebay items such as these, I took a risk with the Megan headers, they seem to be doing well at the mo.
As Bob said, these FMIC's have proved to be good fit, work well etc.
I don't know the real ins and outs regarding the bar/plate tube/fin designs, however when harvey fits and recommends a FMIC half the price of others at the time, it was a no brainer for me

im wieghing all this up
and if i fit a bigger top mount, i then need a bigger scoop, i then need painting for it
the costs add up
the car blew after sum on the limiter driving in 5th gear
i would bet it was partially down to the standerd setup not being able to cool things properlly
i dont think that topmount will clear at all, its larger then a sti8, which is allready a very tight squeeze on a 97 car, if i bought that top mount i would have to hack and chop it and have it rewelded to fit my phase 1.5manifold

i dont mind hacking a second hand TMIC about, but a brand spanking new one is a bit crazy

a cheap FMIC and a induction kit (maybe the standerd airbox can be modded?) works out cheaper IMO
and with better results?
plus i am after more power when its all fixed again so its probably a wise move
after all, are you not ditching your TMIC yourself
Think its swings and rounabouts with bar/plate Vs tube/fin
tube/fin flows faster but due to this cant cool aswell
bar/plate slower flow, better cooling...........
StickyMicky Went through the same dilema as you, and after lots of thought opted for the FMIC
Glad I did as a bigger TMIC will still suffer heat soak and some people that went this way are now looking at fitting fans / water spray etc.

its not a decision that needs to be made anytime soon, i have plenty of time to think about it

Sticky, why the need for the OE airbox? A good cold air box around the filter and a good feed will keep hot air out, I've seen the K+N kits for around £90 - even cheaper on Ebay.
Its ineviatable (sp) with the FMIC kits you've mentioned, if not all FMIC's
