Default getting hold of a sti8/9 short block

from the type 25
i rang powerstation, but they will not deliver any and will only use there stock for people that visit them

who else stocks them?

£800 plus vat was a decent price i thought
there must be a few floating about sumwhere?

Sticky,

Did you get for a price for fitting?

I nearly fell off my chair when I asked recently

You could try David @ API
or you could try Stuart at TEG, not sure if they have 8/9 short motors in, but if you require any erm, how shall I put it, "work" doing, they can certainly help

needs fitting anyway, as my bottom end is ready to fall out
already selected sumbody to do the work

just figured a sti8/9 bottom end would be a better bet then another 97wrx one?
looking at about 350bhp in the future with turbo/cooler and a map (all other supporting mods are in place)

kinda wrote of the 2.5 for the moment due to insurance

Could give them a try?

I've just got my MY97 WRX back from powerstation, they did a top job fitting the new block. The overall cost was similar to other quotes I'd had for just a straight rebuild, would recommend them.

You can ring a courier and arrange collection? Just get them to strap it on a pallet. Won't take them long. Pay them and then ring DHL/Interlink etc. or goto www.parcel2go.com

they wont release them unless there doing the work on the cars themselves

they have just quoted me £2600 for the conversion, which has water pumps and cambelts etc etc changed, although i will also have to find a way of getting my car down there in the first place

and theres the trip back down to pick the thing up
which also bumps up the costs
pricey things these subarus

they did say it would be a simple 3 day turnaround tho which was nice

When I spoke to David at API, he quoted £2620 + vat which included them coming to pick the car up from mine (nr Lancaster), full rebuild inc forged pistons, new rods, crank (out of the sti 9), bearings, gaskets etc, uprated oilpump, organic clutch and sort out a parallel fuel feed too.

Was still a bit too much for my budget, so Im getting TEG to do the work as they're only a few miles from my house! Fingers crossed I'll have it back soon.

Sticky, probably already sorted this now by the sound of it but last week City Auto Salvage (Sheffield) had an 04 STI (~6k miles) they were breaking and still had the engine in place.
