I would take it to a garage asap, and dont use the turbo, it could be a number of things. Do you have a boost gauge? is it reading the same as it used to? it may be a leak on the inlet manifold, faulty actuator, fuel starvation, the list goes on!

couuld be just the solenoid clogged with oil-its very common on imprezas-especially as youve just got the car,it could have been overfilled when it had an oil change. try cleaning it out with carb cleaner

Coil packs? Plugs? Worth checking. When the coil packs are old they crack and fail under boost cos they arc.

Default Same Problem

Hi i have the same problem. I've just purchased an early 98 Impreza. It's fine on low boost, but as soon as it kicks into full boost the car judders quite violently.

I have been doing a bit of research on the net and it's a common problem fixed by spraying brake or carb cleaner into a t shape pipe.....but does anyone know what pipe this is, and where it's located?

I have also spoken to Subaru about it (they said a common problem aswell) and a replacement electric solenoid valve is about £105 inc vat. I just wanted to try and unblock it first before i bought a new one. The oil level is only half full - as it should be.
Has anyone managed to clear this valve?

thanks for your help.

Richard.
