hey mate

i have same motor, might be worth getting a scoobyecu/chip for your ecu or getting a newer ecu (Z4) out of a 95 ish model. it has 260ps instead of 240ps like yours and is far better mapped than the early ones. Also the scooby chip/ecu will allow you to run optimax alone instead of having to put o/booster in all the time. You will also get more benefit from your decat & induction from getting better ecu &/chip.

Another side to it is the safety side like fitting a knock link, afr gauge just to keep an eye on the engine as you (might) nail it.

Also check your coil packs and plugs are sound as the more power you run the more these need to be reliable otherwise it will back fire, hold back and run crap under pressure.

You will probably need a more powerful fuel pump i got the walbro which apparently runs engines upto 400bhp.
More than 300 bhp i would guess you need bigger injectors for reliability from 380cc to 440cc or better still 550cc so they dont struggle. A bigger top mount or get a front mount, change your headers (thread on the go will help decide which to look at)

Oh and dont forget all the power increases you will need to have good brakes

tim

edit - the more power usually means more petrol so its up to the driver on how much power they want and how heavy footed they are.

argh thats the hard part they are like gold dust mate, try the subaru breakers for a ecu but the chip your best seeking someone out on here i had mine done about year and half ago and its been great. had it done by scott t. but he does not do them anymore.

see if anyone offers you one on this thread or look in the for sale sections. be careful what your buying though there are loads out there!!

Some subaru specialists might offer them but they are getting expensive but thats the way it goes.

Another choice would be to get an apexi power fc but you need money!!! bout 700 afaik (dont quote me on that!) andy f on here sorts them out. this replaces your ecu and can be mapped and set as you want it and changed to suit any modification. good gear but outside my budget at the moment

well if it was me i would get the z4 ecu first and go from there. just depends how deep your pockets are!!
i was lucky mine came over with the z4 ecu already in then i got it chipped to run 15.5psi. worth every penny - wont say how much as it will make people cry to the price now charged

Can i stick the fuel pump straight on>>?? or do i need to upgrade anything else??

Does the extra fuel just return to the tank if not used?

the fuel pump is a plug and play i took the back seat out for ease of access and as your looking in the boot from behind the car there is a plate to the right, undo the top and your in the tank where the fuel pump is hanging down. take it out, disconnect and swap pumps (there was a jecs in mine - think thats the standard) join the wires back up, i had to join them but parts were supplied for everything.

fuel lines work as norm no change.

fuel cut on a my93 wrx is at around 16psi, standard boost is around 11 so there is room for uping it without spending a fortune

this is by far the cheapest option for more power.

Fuel cut on a MY93 is actually at 14 psi. I had a bleed valve on mine originally and it was a pain in the **** and needed adjusting on a daily basis to keep it away from fuel cut. In fact, my sole justification for getting a ScoobyECU was to get away from fuel cut.

Wink

The ECU in a 93 WRX will have a fuel cut of 14.57psig (so will run no higher without an FCD or a scoobyecu) and a boost target of 11.47psig - the Z4 ECU however has a fuel cut of 15.65psig and a boost target of 12.71psig

Cheers

upping the boost is without doubt the cheapest way to get more power though.

a Z4 the better but costs a little more, if you are planning any other mods in the future its worth saving up for an apexi power fc.

Got my 93 wrx remapped at scoobyclinic it totally transformed the drive of the car, at lot of tuning companies say you cant re-map the early wrx's scoobyclinic are one of the only ones as far as i know. It made my scoob feel so much more responsive and pulls so much harder through the revs thats with the full de-cat you've already done, cost me £600 all in, it runs on optimax with no additives perfectly fine, but beware your coilpacks will probably need replacing after a while, "as mine did" an their not cheap..
