MY99 to MY98 - boost differences???

My current car a UK MY98 Impreza Turbo 2000 is fully decatted and has a boost gauge so I can keep an eye on any unwanted overboost that may occur. I have noticed that peak boost is around 1 bar then drops to 0.9 bar and holds. However my last scoob a UK MY99 Impreza Turbo 2000 with the very same mods and gauge boosted to about 1.2 bar and held at 1 bar? Has anyone got an explaination for this? Im sure the MY99 felt a bit urgent on full boost. Could be imagining it tho!
