Unhappy N/S wheel bearing problem on rear wheel?

Hi,
I have a strange knocking noise coming from around the n/s rear wheel area, but only @ around 30mph.I wondered if it is possibly a wheel bearing or a suspension problem i.e bushes.I will get it checked out next week, but I wondered if anyone had any other ideas as to the cause?
TIA
Regards
Dean

Wheel bearings don't usually knock, they grind. Exhaust is very close to rear n/s suspension.

Thanks for the replies,I had already checked the exhaust and everything is o.k.The Jack is wrapped in cloth already Ron as I have had a problem in the past with that.I have had new brake pads on the front and it has been suggested today that these could be rubbing initially and resonating to produce the said noise. This could be possible presumably,as it's one of those things that will take time to go through as part of a process of elimination! The car handles and goes like it should and the noise is sporadic which is difficult when trying to get a solution.
Cheers
Dean
