If you are going to have them painted then they need to be done in 2K paint and not the crap from Halfrauds etc. Otherwise have them refurbed by a local firm.

The nasty stuff that is a 2 part paint. Paint and a chemical hardener containing Isocyanates (really bad for lungs and skin).

The paint is the same stuff used today to paint new cars and is a very durable finish where as the single pack paints are not quite as good.

Will that be the same as how a proffessional refurber will finish it?

depends if you are any good with a spray gun (Drip Drip) ... Spraying is an art and once you have it mastered its a bonus. The trick is distance and how much paint comes out and what kind of pattern it comes out in.. Best to do a few light coats then try do it all in one go. Do one coat and leave for a few hours even more and then do another coat etc etc

It was not my spraying skills I was worried about...was just wondering whether the proffessional wheel refurbishers used a simple 2k paint and lacquer or whether the finish was baked on or dipped etc?

I think the professionals spray and then bake em under a low heat, I have a mate who does it but for some unknown reason the garage is closed today.. Probably the weather.
