Cam belt change?????
Looking at buying an imported 1996 wagon. Went to look at it at the weekend and was wanting to know if the main service including cam belt had been done. With not a great deal of history, all i could see was what looked like a number stamped onto a metal plaque on the cam belt cover, is this the way its done?
Sorry for silly question, i am new to Impreza's
Thanx in advance for any help

totally agree. Whenever i get a new car i always get a new cambelt put on, because at the end of the day its only a few hundred quid at most, so well worth doing

Thanks for you responses, just wanted to clarify if dealers stamp the mileage when it was last changed on this metal plaque?? If they do this then it was only changed 2,000 miles ago

If you do and can't ascertain whether the cambelt has been done, I'd get it done straight away. It's only just under a couple of hundred quid, compare that to the cost of an engine re-build and it pays to be safe!!
