Default WAS DRIVING HOME AND TURBO STOPPED?

HI Everyone,

Was just driving home, after a little blast the turbo stopped workin, the engin is running seet and smooth, the dump valvle stopped making the whossh sound?

the bosst gauge says negative 0.5 bar, wheh i rev it goes to 0. Any ideas?

P.

oh and full fuel tank

Engine running still? If so, boost hose fell off? Any funny noise?

HI,
No funny noise, hose`s all on fine, the piston bailey dump valve still moves atc. just cant get over 80 mph,

just switched engine back on again, turbo running again, just not much pressure on the boost gauge, still negative 0.5, weird?

Waste gate penny could be stuck open (turbo) Check the rod that open & closes it via the waste gate soleniod?
Its all under the turbo heat sheilds that if you have got them.

Everything seems ok, dont see any heat shields, its my00 2000. the trubo has been acting weird lately, after a hard run it seems to have been cuttiing down, then workling great again in the morn.
but its never stopped.

What should a the boost gauge say on tick over? min just says -0.5 bar, then when i rev the engin it goes to 0,

oh tickjy, do u mean on the waste gate on the turob itself? i eas loking on the top next to the air intercooler, the piston dumpvalve is bolted onto it, or am i loking in the totally wrong place?

The bar between the aluminium side of the turbo and the rusty cast iron side, usually sits under the heat shield above the turbo.

The rod has a bronze coloured capsule at one end which has a hose that goes to the boost control solenoid.

Grab this rod and see if it moves in and out ( some force needed! ) as this is what opens and closes the flap that keeps in the exhaust gas to spinn the turbo or lets it get away to stop blowing up!

check the circlip hasn't slipped off wastegate to penny connecting rod, i could just get over 90 mph, mine was like this last thursday. Ticky got me to check mine. new circlip , reconnected fine now.

dump valve is running great, so is turbo now, but does this intermittedley.

whats a maf?


also got some brake cleaner to clean waste gate and solenoid on weekend, hopefully will do the trickl.

The Mas Airflow Sensor mate..It sits in the box just after your airbox.

That sounds about right, what are you getting at full boost ~4000rpm..?
