Ok im new to scoobies and to be totally onest i know **** about em!!

Just brought a 1993 WRX import..

Got a few questions!!

What BHP is this standard????

Ive got a full howard and scott decat system, HKS induction kit, front mounted intercooler.

What BHP will it be after that?? Is it recommended to add other stuff to make full advantage of the system and intercooler? like injectors, ECU etc????

A standard 93 WRX saloon with standard ECU will be running 240PS ie. ~230BHP on UK fuel.

The exhaust may give you 10BHP, and the decat may give you 10more. Induction, perhaps 5. The FMIC will not increase the power much but it will enable you to increase the power significantly without detonation.

If you are on standard ECU and standard boost I guess you would be putting out about 260BHP

You should get a z4 ECU (+15BHP)or get a remap (+40BHP). If you want more than ~300 then you will need to increase injector size, and get a upgraded fuel pump.

Do you use Optimax?

i havent started using it yet so no, What is the best fuel to use and do i need to always run it on Super and put octane boost to increase it to Jap fuel quality?

What sort of fuel pump do i need then?

Like i said im a newbie, so dont know

get a knocklink fitted before anything mate if poss. also run it on optimax (98) and octane booster to be safe. If you just want it to run on optimax or uk fuel it will need to be remapped otherwise possibly blow up.

as for power mods, i have the 95 version which is 260ps (about 250bhp) stock. exhaust, downpipe, decat, took it to 276bhp.

if you did get a fuel pump i think the 255's ar the best bet? anyone?

K thanks guys, ive seen the 255's on ebay so maybe ill get that...

But another stupid newbie question is,, When ive fitted this fuel pump is that it?? Or do i need to do anything else? if it gives it too much fuel will it just return etc??

where is the best place to get a knocklink from then?

And which one?

best place IMO is 2nd hand off here, maybe in the wanted or keep an eye on the for sale forums mate.

or you can buy them brand new and are about £140, knocklink is the actual name of the device. Im not sure if there are other types available

Look HERE about 1/2 way down the page for the Knocklink The pump you require is a Walboro GSS341

When I changed my Fuel pump to a Walboro I also fitted an FPR as I was concerned that the tiny oem verison wouldn't be able to cope with the increased flow/pressure plus I wanted an FPR which was adjustable. The base fuel pressure should be 3bar at atmospheric pressure (Engine idling with vac/pressure pipe disconnected from FPR bonnet)

With doing the fuel pump and FPR is it worth doing injectors aswell then>???

With regards to FPR's the most commonly used are the SX FPR, the Aeromotive FPR and the FSE FPR shown below


There has been some reliability problems with the FSE (Not sure if these have been resolved as of yet)
I didnt use any of the above I have a Hybrid FPR normally used on Supercharged Mustangs which is a 1:1 rising rate and has worked very well so far
This depends if you have a specific Hp target - nominally the oem 380cc injectors can cope to ~320bhp+ (Fuel Pressure dependant of course )
