leave it as it is M8. Blocking it off forces air to back up as it comes through the engine bay and leaving it open stops this and also allow air to cool the turbo area andalso allow hot air from the engine to escape whilst you are at a standstill (which is not very often with you!)

The stock scoop wont hurt anything. If it bothers you too much you could always find someone with a non turbo impreza that would be willing to swap hoods.

Leave it as it is, it will keep the turbo area cooler, and let hot air out when in traffic. I also removed the blanking plates under the two bonnet vents to let a bit of heat out too. Can't do any harm. Only downside is engine can get a bit mucky, but it's ok if you keep up to it. Daz

Removing the vents is not a good idea, removing the passenger one only makes the battery area go rusty, and removing the one above the filter will draw warm air towards the filter (as tested)
Rob
p.s. the TMIC scoop does cool turbo etc and release hot air under bonnet.

Eh?
My cover plates have been removed almost from new, no problems here. Hardly and water gets in and what does dries out quickly. No rust either (although car is garaged). Only downside is engine tends to get dirty, but ok really if you keep up to it.
As for pulling warm air past the filter, agreed about the air flow direction, as air passing over the bonnet will create a vacuum and pull warm air out, but remember, this air (going into the filter) will be cooler than if the vents were covered. Plenty of cold air will be getting in from the scoop.
Also keeps it cool in traffic.
I prefer that than the engine getting too hot. I'll take my chances
Otherwise what are they there for. Have a look at a WRC. Daz
